Gift Aid is a UK government scheme that allows charities to claim an extra 25% on donations made by UK taxpayers.
If you’re eligible and choose to add Gift Aid to your donation, Juvenile Arthritis Research can reclaim the tax you’ve already paid on that amount from HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC).
This means that for every £10 you donate, the charity receives an additional £2.50 – at no extra cost to you. Learn more about Gift Aid (GOV.UK).
When you make a donation online through our website, you can tick a box to allow us to claim the Gift Aid. If you donate through a fundraising platform (such as Wonderful, JustGiving or Enthuse) you can also tick a box to allow us reclaim Gift Aid.
If you make a donation by bank transfer (BACS) you can contact us if you are a UK taxpayer to allow us to reclaim the Gift Aid.
To add Gift Aid, you must be a UK taxpayer and pay enough Income Tax or Capital Gains Tax to cover the amount we’ll claim. For example, if you donate £100, we’ll claim £25 – so you’ll need to have paid at least £25 in tax that year.
If you don’t pay UK tax, you can’t add Gift Aid. If your circumstances change or you pay less tax than we claim, you may need to pay the difference.
Higher and additional rate taxpayers may be able to claim extra tax relief through HMRC.
Thank you for your support – it makes a real difference. Donating is quick and easy, and every gift helps us do more for children and young people with JIA and their families.
