Children’s Art Competition to design our new Thank You cards
NOW CLOSED:
With so many wonderful entries, our judges had a tough job choosing their winners. Their decision can be found here!
We need some new Thank You cards, which we send to businesses and organisations that have supported the work of Juvenile Arthritis Research. We designed the last cards ourselves, but we are sure you could do a better job!
So we have decided to run a competition to design our new Thank You cards. We’ve got two amazing judges to help us pick the best designs from each of our three age categories, and some great prizes to be won!
The competition
Simply draw or paint your design for a thank you card that we can send to our supporters. Your design should be on a plain piece of A4 paper.
There will be three winners – one from each age category and then we will choose one of the winning three designs to be printed as cards.
The age categories are:
Age 3-6 years
Age 7-10 years
Age 11-15 years
These will end up about one-quarter of the size of your entry, so make sure any words are clear to read.
Please don’t use glitter or sparkly pens, and don’t stick anything onto your design or we won’t be able to print it properly.
Remember that the cards will be used all year round, so don’t use any seasonal designs!
Do show your imagination and creativity and have fun drawing and painting.
The cards don’t even need to state the words 'thank you' on them. We’ll leave that up to you when you create your design.
Our judges
We have two amazing judges for our competition – author and artist Sarah Maycock, and musician Tom Williams.
Sarah is a hugely talented artist, whose work includes pieces for the Natural History museum, BBC Wildlife magazine, and the Rugby World Cup. She has recently published a beautiful book including some of her incredible artwork, and we are delighted to include a signed copy of Sometimes I feel for each of our three winners. You can see more of Sarah’s work at https://sarahmaycock.co.uk/.
Tom is a singer-songwriter as well as an awesome guitar player and fab tutor! His music style is folk-rock, and we love it. During the pandemic, Tom has been engaging online audiences with regular informal gigs from his living room. You can find more about Tom at http://www.tomwilliamsmusic.net/ and make sure you check out the video of It’s Dark Now, performed with the ‘help’ of some primary school children at https://youtu.be/iPN3b5z-tGQ.
The prizes
Each of our three overall winners (one from each age group) will win a signed copy of Sometimes I Feel by Sarah Maycock as well as an amazing prize bundle. Juvenile Arthritis Research will choose at least one of these winning designs to be turned into cards that we can use.
Thirty runners-up will also be randomly drawn from all entries, and each will win one book from our prize collection. We cannot guarantee which of these books you will win as they will be randomly allocated.
All prizes have been kindly donated by supporters of Juvenile Arthritis Research, at no cost to the charity.

Top tips from Sarah and Tom
“We’re looking for colourful, exciting, and engaging designs to help Juvenile Arthritis Research say thank you to their supporters. Make sure they are clear and easy to see. If you include any words, make sure they are nice and big. Be bold, be brave, but most of all have fun!”
